The Anti-ragging workshop was organized on 25th October 2023 to raise awareness about the harmful effects of ragging and to promote a culture of respect and harmony among the students. The event started with the national anthem and the Maharashtra Geet, followed by a short video that illustrated the impact of ragging on the mental and physical health of the victims. Next, a skit was presented by the junior placement committee, which explained how ragging happens in an institution and how it affects the mental health of a student. The skit also highlighted the role of peer support and counselling in preventing and coping with ragging.

The audience was engaged and applauded the performance. After the skit, the director of the institute, Dr. H. J. Bhasin, was invited to deliver a speech on the topic. After the director’s wise words, The Chief Guest, Dr. Pramila D’Souza was introduced by the host Mehdi Sayed and felicitated by Dr. Suresh Suvarna, the head of the placement cell. Dr. D’Souza spoke about the legal technicalities of ragging in educational institutions and the measures to curb it.

She also urged the students to report any incidents of ragging and to cooperate with the authorities in taking action against the culprits. She emphasized that ragging is a serious offense that can lead to suspension, expulsion or even imprisonment. She also appealed to the students to respect each other’s dignity and diversity and to foster a positive and healthy environment on the campus. The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Suresh and FY MMS Placement Committee. The workshop aimed to educate the students about their rights and responsibilities as well as to sensitize them about the consequences of ragging.
