Innovative Teaching Techniques: Integrating Kahoot Quizzes and Skit Performance on the Consumer Protection Act

To make the learning of legal concepts such as the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 both engaging and impactful, an integrated approach combining digital tools and performing arts was implemented. Two primary innovations were used, i.e. interactive Kahoot quizzes and a student-performed Hindi skit titled उपभोक्ता सुरक्षा और धोखाधड़ी के व्यापार का पर्दाफाश.

1: Kahoot Quiz – Gamifying Legal Learning

Students participated in a custom-designed Kahoot quiz based on key provisions, rights, and case applications of the Consumer Protection Act. This gamified method transformed the classroom into a dynamic learning space. The competitive format encouraged participation, fostered curiosity, and reinforced critical concepts such as consumer rights, types of consumer disputes, and redressal mechanisms. Immediate feedback and score tracking provided an opportunity for real-time learning and self-assessment.

2: Skit-Based Learning – Role Play for Real-World Relevance

A skit was performed by students portraying a realistic consumer fraud case where a mobile phone buyer, Rajeev, was deceived by a shopkeeper. The skit dramatized the consumer’s journey-from facing defective goods and uncooperative sellers to filing a complaint in a consumer court and spreading awareness. Characters included consumers, shop staff, a judge, and witnesses, illustrating courtroom dynamics and legal recourse in a simple, relatable way.

The script addressed common issues like fake warranties, malfunctioning electronics (screen flickering, battery drainage, etc.), and misleading advertisements. Post-skit discussions and reflection questions allowed students to critically evaluate the ethical responsibilities of sellers and the rights of consumers.

Learning Outcomes

  • Enhanced awareness of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
  • Strengthened public speaking, teamwork, and empathy through role play.
  • Improved retention of legal principles through visual and participative methods.
  • Encouraged civic responsibility and awareness of legal redressal systems.

By integrating Kahoot’s digital engagement with the emotive power of dramatization, this blended pedagogical strategy provided a holistic and memorable learning experience, fostering both conceptual clarity and practical understanding among students.
