Description

The rapid digital transformation of various tools used at household, workplaces and academic environments has significantly increased exposure to cyber threats. To address such growing concern, a Cyber Security Awareness Drive was organized by AICTE as the month of October is observed as National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) with the objective of raising awareness about Cyber Hygiene and promoting Cyber Security Best Practices across the country. The theme for this year’s campaign is “Cyber Jagrit Bharat” (#CyberJagritBharat), focusing on empowering all stakeholders to ensure a safer and more secure cyberspace, aimed at educating participants about essential cyber-safe practices. As part of this initiative, a Google Form–based quiz was conducted to assess participants’ understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and promote responsible digital behavior.

The Google Form quiz consisted of 20 multiple-choice questions covering key cybersecurity concepts such as: Strong password practices, Identifying phishing emails, Safe browsing habits,

Social engineering, Device and network security, Data protection and privacy principles, etc.

Observation:

A majority of participants demonstrated basic knowledge of safe internet practices.Most respondents were familiar with password security and safe browsing techniques. Few participants had difficulty in identifying phishing & DDoS attempts. Awareness about advanced threats such as ransomware and social engineering was relatively low with few participants.

Highest Score: 20

Lowest Score: 5

Participant Scoring (above 70% score): 89%

 

The quiz served not only as an assessment tool but also as a learning resource. Participants reported:

·         Increased awareness of everyday cyber risks.

·         Improved confidence in identifying suspicious online behavior.

·         Motivation to adopt stronger personal cybersecurity habits (e.g., using stronger passwords, enabling MFA, avoiding suspicious links).
