The participants included teaching faculty and students. The ‘Thalassemia Awareness and check up’ drive conducted by Dr. Praveen from TATA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL along with our institute LLIM. Pre talk to the students about thalassemia was done on 26 August 2016.
Dr. Praveen enlightened the students about Thalassemia minor and major. He also encouraged the students to donate blood by giving astonishing facts as to more than 50% of the blood collected in India goes in the medication of the thalassemia patients.
So the best possible way to prevent thalassemia is that a person checks his thalassemia status so that adequate & timely precautions can be taken.
This discourse was a part of the series aimed at creating awareness in the students in areas of healthcare and related matters and once in a lifetime check up done
The response was excellent, around 63 students participated.
