The participants included teaching faculty and students. The ‘Thalassemia Awareness and check up’ drive conducted by Mr. Vynay Shetty from THINK FOUNDATION along with our institute LLIM. Pre talk to the students about thalassemia was done on 28 March 2016.

Mr. Vynay Shetty also encouraged the students to donate blood by giving  astonishing facts  as to more than 50% of the blood collected in India goes in the medication of the thalassemia patients.
So the best possible way to prevent thalassemia is that a person checks his thalassemia status so that adequate & timely precautions can be taken.

The Think Foundation is doing Thalassemia awareness programs across all the Colleges of Mumbai and doing the thalassemia minor screening program (free of cost) for students. They are combining it with Blood Collection drives.

This discourse was a part of the series aimed at creating awareness in the students in areas of healthcare and related matters and once in a lifetime check up done

The response was excellent, around 132 students participated.
